He was listed in the 1981-82 North Carolina media guide as "Mike Jordan," a skinny freshman from Wilmington who was only regarded as the second-best high school basketball player in the state the season before. He turned into one of the primary reasons that 1982 North Carolina team will gather today, 25 years later, to be honored at halftime of the Wake Forest-North Carolina game. (Charlotte Observer)
