The recruiting powder-keg that exploded Wednesday from the fourth floor of the Kenan Football Center was first lit last spring when QB Mike Paulus of Syracuse, N.Y., committed to the Tar Heels, sloughing off offers from Syracuse, Tennessee, Alabama, Miami and a half dozen schools from Estonia to Malta.
