UNC season a surprise after first-game stumble against Gamecocks

I don't think anyone in Bank of America Stadium that evening would have believed the Tar Heels would be returning to Charlotte in December to play in the ACC championship game. The way UNC self-destructed on offense that day in falling 17-13 to what has become South Carolina's first losing team since 2003 had us expecting mediocrity again for the Tar Heels.
