North Carolina turned to unconventional means and maintained longstanding historical order in its Atlantic Coast Conference basketball opener. The seventh-ranked Tar Heels went small out of necessity, a downsizing move to a four-guard lineup that repelled Clemson’s charge and helped secure an 80-69 victory Wednesday night at the Smith Center.
