But historically, UNC has handled whatever scenarios the Carrier Dome has presented. Well, since its first trip. That came in the NCAA East Regionals in 1983. The defending national champion Tar Heels defeated Ohio State by 13 before being shocked by Georgia in the regional final, 82-77. But nine month later, Dean Smith's team returned to the Carrier Dome and waxed an unbeaten Syracuse team 87-64.
