A Shocker: UNC Beaten After One Week as Number 1

North Carolina made a desperate, frantic comeback to try to stay unbeaten in the ACC, but couldn't overcome determined Virginia Tech in the din of Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies held on for a 94-88 win, their second in school history against a No. 1-ranked team. The Tar Heels were down 72-49 with 10:17 left and 80-60 with 4:11 remaining, but charged back and had a sellout crowd on its feet in nervous anticipation of the final two minutes.
