NCSU reported to pick BC coach Tom O'Brien to replace Amato

N.C. State's football coaching search appeared to be ending Wednesday with the Wolfpack hiring Boston College coach Tom O'Brien. Former Wolfpack quarterback Philip Rivers, now the starter for the San Diego Chargers, told the North County (Calif.) Times on Wednesday that O'Brien would replace Chuck Amato, who was fired Nov. 26, a day after State finished the season 3-9. "It's Tom O'Brien," Rivers told the newspaper. "I got a call this morning, and they said it was a done deal." (Raleigh News & Observer)
