Georgia-North Carolina have long — but not recent — football history

Georgia and North Carolina first met on October 26, 1895, in Atlanta; it was the 15th game in Georgia football history and the 33rd for UNC. UNC won 6-0 and completed what is considered by some as the first-ever forward pass; alas, the play was illegal at the time. Historians are unable to confirm the first occurrence, although John Heisman is noted in giving credit to this game as having the first pass. (Gridiron Now)
