Tar Heels present first real test for Illinois

There’s no evidence Josh Whitman and Lovie Smith are gambling men, but they’re all-in on this weekend. North Carolina and Illinois kick off Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET, BIG TEN Network) at Memorial Stadium and Illinois’ athletic director and football coach are putting their chips on this game as demonstrative of their program’s progress.
