Ex-UNC star Haywood fired up for new season

Brendan Haywood has grown accustomed to his spot in the Washington Wizards' starting lineup. Haywood, who played at North Carolina from 1997-2001, started 70 games last season for the Wizards and has started at least 59 games in each of his last four seasons in the NBA. So the notion that he might enter the 2006-07 season as a backup has given him some extra motivation during the preseason. (Durham Herald-Sun)
