Kentucky coach John Calipari visited 5-star point guard Javonte Smart Wednesday. Fresh off winning his second straight Louisiana Mr. Basketball award, Smart is ranked the No. 3 point guard in the 2017 class by the 247Sports Composite. He averaged 25 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals per game as Scotlandville won its second LHSAA title in three years.
