More than 10 years ago, it would have been hard to imagine Vince Carter’s career winding down so gracefully. His evolution from alpha dog to valuable veteran mentor has been one of the NBA’s most pleasant developments of the decade. It’s not quite finished, either. At 40, Carter’s +6.3 on-off-court rating last season led the Grizzlies by a comfortable margin.
