Jay Cox homers twice to lead Heels
Posted Jun 22, 2006
Jay Cox put up some runs. Then he helped stop the opposition from doing the same. In the process, he ended a slump and helped the North Carolina baseball team earn a spot in the College World Series championship series for the first time in school history. Cox, a Smithfield native known for his special style of southern slang, hit two home runs and crashed into the fence to make a catch in the ninth inning as the Tar Heels defeated Cal State Fullerton 6-5.
