Looking back at UNC’s first NCAA Division I Tournament in Charlotte Posted Mar 20, 2018 UNC entered the 1975 NCAA Basketball Tournament after capturing the ACC Tournament as the second seed with three narrow victories. They defeated No. 7 seed Wake Forest in overtime, 101–100; No. 1 seed Maryland, 87–85; and No. 4 seed NC State, 70–66.
