UNC baseball uses analytics to power defensive shifts

Major League Baseball teams have taken to shifting defenders more than ever thanks in part to analysis of where players hit the ball. North Carolina has followed suit, as evidenced in its 8-6 victory against Oregon State in Game 1 of the College World Series. Mississippi State will be the next team asked to solve the shifts when it meets UNC at 7 p.m. Monday. (Commercial Dispatch)
