Any ideas why UNC doesn't do a better job of recruiting Florida, considering Coach Davis' background/history? You'd think he would have a slew of contacts, especially in the Miami area.

I was looking over the current scout.com prospect list, showing 2010 commits and where the uncommitted are considering. UNC is on a few "short lists", but the usual suspects - USC, Florida, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State, etc. - dominate with number of commitments and seem to be high on every uncommitted player's list. UNC, for the most part, appears an afterthought - if that - for most of the prospects.

I think we're seeing with injuries just how important it is to have quality backups ready to step in. On that note, isn't it amazing what Oklahoma has done after losing a Heisman-winning QB to injury? Two weeks later, Bradford's backup throws 6 touchdowns in a game, setting a school record! And last night, both South Florida & Cincinnati showed how prepared they each are to continue with business as usual, as they each played - and well - with QB's forced into action because of injury to quality starters. So it isn't just Carolina being bitten by the injury bug. It hits everyone. If you're prepared, you keep winning. If not . . . well, you stumble. Just as UNC has done this year.

To continue beating a dead horse, UNC must pick up the pace with recruiting. The 'Heels are disturbingly thin at a number of positions. Serious injuries to any receivers, QB's, and now RB's, would virtually cripple this team. Any more losses on the OL and it's time to start thinking about 2010 - or beyond.

Butch Davis is a****idiot...... How do you blow an 18 point lead with Lawrence Taylor on your sideline? I am ashamed to be a tarheel fan! there defensive line is the only defense they have.... I have never ever seen such a sorry secondary in my entire life. My highschool team could of played a better secondary than those players! I blame the coaches.... It is rediculous to loose to a team like Florida State at home like that. He better fire the secondary coaches because they are useless. They made ponder look like Brett Farve and he sucks! I am very embarrassed to be a Tarheel fan. Somebody needs to jerk a knot in this sorry coached secondary!!!!
