UNC takes on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders this Saturday at 12:30 in Chapel Hill.  Here are a few notes on MTSU:
  • MTSU of Conference USA beat Western Carolina 45-24 in Week 1. Western Carolina has lost 11 straight games.
  • Starting QB Logan Kilgore threw for 2,571 yards last season but sprained the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder in last week's win and could possibly miss this weekend's game. It's a day-to-day type of injury.
  • Before the injury, Kilgore was 12/18 passing with 144 yards and 1 TD.
  • Kilgore's backup, redshirt freshman Austin Grammer, finished the game and went 7/9 for 61 yards.
  • MTSU running back Jordan Parker had 22 carries for 156 yards last week, including a 65-yard TD on the first play of the game.
  • UNC coach Larry Fedora was the offensive coordinator at MTSU from 1999-2001: "It was my first job as an OC. It's where the philosophy and the basis of this offense evolved from."
  • The Blue Raiders beat Georgia Tech last season 49-28, but running back Bennie Cunningham who was responsible for 217 yards and 5 TDs has graduated. Kilgore threw for 246 yards and 2 TDs against the Jackets.
  • The Tar Heels begin the week as a 21.5 point favorite.
Update: MTSU's coach says that Kilgore practiced Monday and will be ready to go this weekend.
