The story of UNC’s first NBA player

The first former UNC player to play in a professional basketball league was . After his career in Chapel Hill, Glamack played several years in the National Basketball League in the 40s. However, if you want to be technical, he was not the first Tar Heel to play in the NBA. This technically makes UNC's first NBA player. (Tar Heel Blog)

Somewhat surprisingly, the most frequently worn number is one that can't be worn anymore. 21 Tar Heels have worn number-20. The last person to wear it was , who wore it during the time period that Carolina established the criteria for jersey retirement. That criteria resulted in number-20 being retired in honor of , who had one of the best nicknames in Carolina history--The Blind Bomber.
