Getting to Know UNC Defensive Coordinator Jay Bateman

When Pete Lembo was hired as Elon's head coach in 2006, he brought Jay Bateman with him from Lehigh to run his defense. Almost immediately the transformation began. The Phoenix were suddenly competing for Southern Conference championships and reaching the FCS playoffs. Much of the credit goes to Lembo, but it was Bateman who created a defensive monster.
