Pittsburgh has been effective in limiting damage through the air as evidenced by its ability to hold its first nine opponents to 23 passing plays of 20 yards or longer, which ranks tied for 21st nationally. However, the Panthers have been susceptible to deep passes as they are one of nine Power 5 schools to allow double-digit pass plays of 40 yards or more.
