Sports Illustrated endures another round of layoffs, this time prompted by the coronavirus

Sports Illustrated was hit with layoffs Monday, publisher Maven announced, in the wake of the sports shutdown and overall economic slowdown caused by the novel coronavirus. Six percent of SI’s already thinned editorial staff will be let go, Maven said. Among those laid off at SI were longtime senior writer Chris Ballard and editor and writer Jack Dickey.
