ESPN, the long-term steward of the vast majority of college football, is for the first time in decades relinquishing its grips on a Power Five conference. This is no small thing. This is one of the most consequential moves in sports media in my lifetime, and other dominoes are certain to fall in time, ultimately reshaping the country’s second favorite sport.
