Two teams who had big hopes tangle in Charlotte bowl game

When the current college football season started, most University of North Carolina fans were aiming higher than a return trip to the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Up until the final week of the 2009 regular season, University of Pittsburgh fans were thinking of a potential Big East title and a major bowl bid. But Saturday at 4:30 p.m., when those teams meet, they’ll hope to end their seasons on a positive note. (Gaston Gazette)
