How Michael Malone Addresses UNC Basketball's NBA Issue

North Carolina’s recent perception issues regarding the NBA are going to be put on the back burner for two reasons. Number one, when you’re bringing in Michael Malone — who’s coached in the NBA for years and won a NBA championship — that’s a resume and cache that Carolina has not had. The expectation is that he knows what the NBA wants now.

Matt Able got an early start on generating draft buzz with a standout performance at the NBA Draft Combine. He played well in both scrimmages. He's still likely heading to UNC, but he's also closer to the first round than initially thought. Under coach Michael Malone, Able would be expected to become one of the focal points for the Tar Heels on the perimeter.

Softball America has named North Carolina's Emily LeGette the Most Improved Player of the Year as well as earning Second Team All-America honors. LeGette earns All-America honors after rewriting the Carolina record book, setting the single season program records for home runs (27), best slugging percentage (1.117), and most total bases (153).

Neoklis Avdalas, a 6-9 rising sophomore guard from Greece, is joining the North Carolina Men's Basketball team after one season at Virginia Tech. Avdalas averaged 12.1 points and 4.6 assists in 31 games for the Hokies. He twice earned ACC Rookie-of-the-Week honors. He went to Blacksburg after playing two seasons in Greece's HEBA A1 league.

UNC Men's Golf, Carson Bertagnole 2nd At NCAA Bryan Regional

UNC's Carson Bertagnole shot an opening-round 67 to lead the Tar Heels to second place in the NCAA Men's Golf Regional in Bryan, Texas. Carolina, the No. 2 seed in the 14-team field, shot 10-under-par 278, two strokes behind Texas A&M. The Tar Heels played round one without team scoring average leader Niall Sheils Donegan due to a medical issue.

Two UNC Football Players No Longer With Team Following Spring Practice

Two UNC Football players left the program following spring practice, a team spokesman confirmed Tuesday. Wide receiver Shenard Clower and defensive back Ty Adams are no longer on the team’s 2026 roster. As a freshman last season, Clower tallied 12 catches for 98 yards and 192 all-purpose yards. Adams appeared in 16 games over two seasons.

UNC Baseball's Macon Winslow has been named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Semifinalist list, the Wichita Sports Commission announced. Elite behind the dish and at the plate, Winslow has been a stalwart for the Tar Heels. He finishes the regular season hitting .307 with nine home runs, 51 RBI, and 55 runs scored.

Caden Glauber Named ACC Baseball Freshman Of The Year, 8 Tar Heels Earn All-ACC Honors

Standout newcomer Caden Glauber has been named ACC Freshman of the Year, highlighting eight Tar Heels to earn spots on the 2026 All-ACC Baseball teams. Glauber, who should still be a senior in high school, has been a star out of the bullpen for North Carolina this season. He owns the conference's best ERA (1.96), the third best in the country.

UNC Baseball seeking consecutive ACC tournament titles for first time in 42 years

The No. 2-seed Tar Heels play in a 3 p.m. Friday quarterfinal game against the winner of Wednesday's second-round game.
