3-D printer built by UNC students gives 13-year-old girl fingers on right hand

Jeff Powell was a junior in biomedical engineering at UNC when a professor approached him in 2014 about a boy named Holden who was missing his fingers. Could Powell make something for the child? “I said ‘Yes, of course.'" Holden’s 3-D hand for the boy made national headlines, and he and other student volunteers formed the Helping Hand Project.
