Ed Hardin: Latta's injury disables dream game

North Carolina's hopes for a second title ended in a heap when Latta went down with a knee injury less than eight minutes into the semifinal. She was carried from the floor, holding her left knee and holding back tears. Sylvia Hatchell watched from the UNC bench as the joy from a 33-1 season became anguish and then became a 33-2 season. "You could feel it,'' she said. "Our energy just disappeared.''
