Lady Tar Heels recall miracle finish in '94
Posted Apr 2, 2006
Living the dream of every kid who practiced in the driveway, imagining the winning shot, Charlotte Smith hit a 3-pointer from the right wing to give North Carolina a 60-59 victory and the 1994 national title. Twelve years later, the Tar Heels are back in the Final Four, and Charlotte Smith-Taylor is an assistant coach. Sylvia Hatchell, who drew up the winning play, is still the Tar Heels' head coach and will send her No. 1-ranked team against ACC rival Maryland in the national semifinals Sunday night.
