Latta a big reason for Heels' success
Posted Apr 1, 2006
Three years ago, North Carolina coach Sylvia Hatchell made what seemed like an outlandish claim when describing incoming freshman Ivory Latta. "Before she ever put on a uniform, I said, 'This league has never had a player like Ivory Latta,' " Hatchell said. "Everybody looked at me and rolled their eyes and were like, 'Yeah.'" As the Latta-led Tar Heels head into Sunday's Final Four matchup with Maryland, Hatchell looks more prescient than pretentious with her prediction.
