Hatchell pulls out all the sticks

With its season in the balance, the North Carolina women's basketball team put its hands around its "sticks" and drew enough strength to beat Purdue 70-68 on Sunday. The "sticks" are a bundle of tongue depressors. Each player decorates her own stick with her goals for the season and then UNC coach Sylvia Hatchell wraps a rubber band around them. The sticks are a constant source of inspiration. (Raleigh News & Observer)
