Former UNC Multi-Sport Captain Bobby Gersten Passes Away at 99

Bobby Gersten, who was the oldest living UNC athlete, passed away Friday morning. He was 99 years old. Gersten, a 1942 UNC graduate, was captain of the Tar Heels basketball and baseball teams as a senior and won the Patterson Medal as Carolina’s top student-athlete that year. After college, Gersten served in the Air Force during World War II.
