White pitches Heels to victory in opener

Alex White held the big bats in Coastal Carolina's lineup in check before tiring in the eighth inning yesterday in pitching North Carolina to a 9-4 win against Coastal Carolina in the Cary Super Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. White, a sophomore right-hander, scattered eight hits at the USA National Baseball Training Complex before leaving after facing two batters in the eighth inning. (Winston-Salem Journal)
