Western North Carolina continues to rebuild after Helene changed their community forever in Sept. 2024. Former University of North Carolina women’s basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell has spent the last year helping her neighbors in Fairview. It includes loaning her equipment to the fire department along with contacting state and federal leaders. (WRAL.com)
