This Super Regional was touted as a heavyweight prize fight between UNC's pitching prowess and ECU's mighty bats. The fourth-seeded Tar Heels took Round 1 with a 10-1 victory, thanks to Alex White's nine-hit, one-run gem in 8 1/3 innings on the mound.
