Posted Mar 18, 2008
North Carolina has been awarded a No. 1 seed in the women's NCAA tournament – but not in the region the Tar Heels wanted. Coach Sylvia Hatchell's team was placed as the top seed in the New Orleans Regional on Monday night. The Atlantic Coast Conference champion Tar Heels (30-2) joined rival Duke (23-9) as the only two teams from the state to make the 64-team field.
