Sylvia Hatchell gives $50K to cancer fund
Posted Jun 26, 2010
UNC women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell has seen one of her players, Jessica Breland, get diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, go through chemotherapy and eventually earn a clean bill of health to rejoin her teammates on the court. Watching Breland's battle with cancer and having been through a cancer scare in 2000 were some of the reasons the Hall of Fame coach decided to donate $50,000 to the N.C. Cancer Hospital Pediatric Oncology Endowment Fund on Friday.
