Ackley's batting average dipped as low as .105 early in the season, but he hit nearly .300 in the last month, raising his average to .253 entering Sunday's series opener at Mississippi. "As a freshman (at UNC) I was in a slump for 30 at-bats, but never for a month," Ackley said. "It's one of the things to get out of and learn from it." At UNC, Ackley never hit below .400.
