Charlotte's Ty Linton signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday, choosing a big-league baseball career over the chance to play football and baseball at North Carolina. Linton - a 14th-round pick who was a two-sport start at Charlotte Christian - received a $1.25 million bonus. Linton had been in Chapel Hill, where he was practicing football with the Tar Heels.
