Infielder Landon Lassiter drafted, likely to attend UNC
Posted Jun 7, 2012
Infielder Landon Lassiter of North Davidson was selected Wednesday in the 16th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, but indications are he will instead head to North Carolina, coach Mike Meadows of North Davidson said. Lassiter has signed to play baseball at UNC. Tommy Coyle, a starting infielder for UNC, was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays one pick ahead of Lassiter, and Meadows said Lassiter apparently has a good chance of landing a starting role in the Tar Heels' middle infield.
