Tar Heels catcher waits for thumbs-up signal

Matt Roberts will be at the College World Series for the second time in three seasons with North Carolina’s baseball team. His availability as a player for the Tar Heels remains in doubt. The junior catcher, who has been a starter for most of the season, is coping with an injured thumb on his right hand. The ailment has several labels, including compression fracture.
