South Carolina was about 25 minutes from Xylina McDaniel's house in Blythewood. North Carolina was more like 3-4 hours. "I was like, 'I don’t want my dad always checking up on me, so...'" McDaniel said. McDaniel laughed as she told the story Saturday, then called it "the best decision I’ve ever made." Today her hometown team and her chosen one will meet on the sport’s biggest stage.
