Former UNC star Sampson absolves Hatchell in paper scheme

The Tar Heels women's basketball program built by UNC coach Sylvia Hatchell could take a big smack when the NCAA gets around to punishing the school for violations amounting to a lack of institutional control related to grade fixing from 1993-2011. Former UNC All-American Tonya Sampson played for Hatchell from 1990-94 and said she is confident that Hatchell didn’t know about any funny business regarding grades.
