Game against Tar Heels feels like family reunion for Elon coach Charlotte Smith

Today marks Elon’s first game in Chapel Hill under Charlotte Smith, who studied alongside Sylvia Hatchell and Andrew Calder for nine years as a UNC assistant coach before taking the Elon job in 2011. As a laser-focused athlete who poured her energy into a 10-year pro career, Smith never had considered coaching when Hatchell offered her a staff position in 2000.
