Tar Heels like staying home
Posted May 30, 2006
Robert Woodard grew up in Charlotte cheering on North Carolina baseball players such as Tyrell Godwin, Derrick DePriest and Whitley Benson. None of them played an NCAA tournament baseball regional at home the way Woodard and his Tar Heels teammates will this week. Beginning Friday, No. 1 regional seed North Carolina will play host to No. 2 seed Winthrop, No. 3 seed UNC Wilmington and No. 4 seed Maine at Boshamer Stadium in the double-elimination regional.
