Virginia defeats No. 1-ranked UNC
Posted May 13, 2006
Ranked No. 1 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 2 by the Baseball America poll, North Carolina entered last night's ACC game at Davenport Field as the Coastal Division leader. Three hours later, the Tar Heels' lead on the Cavaliers had shrunk. Before a sellout crowd of 2,588 - the school added 500 temporary seats for this series - Virginia got a brilliant pitching performance from sophomore left-hander Sean Doolittle and beat UNC 4-1.
