Last week: Florida State hits back to back Hail Mary TDs on Miami, refs take both away This week: UNC recovers two consecutive onside kicks on Miami, refs take both away You’ll never see that sequence of events again in your lifetime— Bad Sports Refs (@BadSportsRefs) November 1, 2026

????THE REFS ARE CHEATING???? North Carolina recovered the onside kick against Miami for the SECOND CONSECUTIVE TIME and the refs called ANOTHER extremely questionable penalty to wipe it out. TWO STRAIGHT RECOVERIES TAKEN AWAY. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. https://t.co/ttEzNF70xn— MLFootball (@MLFootball) November 1, 2026

The bad: 1: It’s the third time this year that UNC had a 4th quarter lead and lost. Obviously different circumstances tonight, but you have to finish. 2: The defense really struggled in the second half. You needed one stop and couldn’t get it. The good: 1: The improvement is visible. Last year, this team loses this game by 3+ TDs. It’s not been as fast as we as fans would like, but you can see where this team is improving. Gotta keep this young nucleus of talent in Chapel Hill. 2: The offense finally didn’t go stagnant midgame. Outside of the one killer fumble, Billy Edwards Jr. was fantastic. Petrino called a heck of a game. Four very winnable games left. Can UNC finish strong and use it as a springboard into 2027? That’s the million dollar question.— Andrew Forrest (@Andrew_Forrest1) November 1, 2026

The ACC would’ve let UNC retry that onside kick all night until Miami recovered it.— Taylor Vippolis (@tvippolis) November 1, 2026
