Tar Heels Lead In 2023-24 Learfield Directors’ Cup Through Fall

National Player of the Year Ryleigh Heck's game-winning goal led the Tar Heels to their 11th field hockey national championship and catapulted UNC to the top of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings after completion of the seven fall Division I championships. UNC Men’s Cross Country Wins First ACC Championship Since 1985

The UNC men’s cross country team claimed the ACC championship Friday in Tallahassee. It’s the program’s first in 38 years. Parker Wolfe led the winning effort, becoming the first Tar Heel since 1997 and 15th overall to win the ACC individual title. He finished the 8k race in 23:03. As part of the 2023 Fall Unity Week, the ACC has announced recipients of the 2023 ACC UNITE Award, created to honor individuals affiliated with the league's member institutions who have made an impact in the areas of racial and social justice. Three Tar Heels Invited To International Track & Field Events

UNC freshman Blaise Atkinson earned spots at the NACAC U23 Championships and Pan American U20 Championships. Tar Heel alumna Jill Shippee will compete for the USA in the hammer throw at the World Athletics Championships in Hungary. Former UNC Track Standout Amber Clark Wins Gold At International Flag Football Championship

On July 7, former UNC long and triple jumper Amber Clark won a gold medal at the IFAF Americas Continental Flag Football Championship in Charlotte. Clark, a Greenville, N.C., native, totaled five interceptions and 18 passes defended across six games, including the interception that sealed the championship game for the U.S. Women's National Team. Tar Heels Ranked No. 8 In Learfield Director's Cup

UNC is eighth in the next-to-final standings in the 2022-23 Learfield Directors' Cup. One championship, the men's College World Series, remains to be played, and Carolina has amassed 1030.5 points.
