Remembering award-winning UNC professor emeritus Joel Schwartz

Joel Joseph Schwartz, PhD died peacefully at his home in Chapel Hill, NC, surrounded by family, on July 7, 2018. He was 81 years old. During his tenure at UNC, Dr. Schwartz was the recipient of multiple awards, including the University Professor of Distinguished Teaching. He was most proud of his work with students that led to the establishment of the Apples Service-Learning program.
