In John Bunting’s terminology, defensive ends “put the edge on the defense;” and that is why it’s critical North Carolina get effective play from the position in 2006 and beyond. “It’s a very important position,” Bunting said. “And it’s one of the things that really hurt us in ’02 and ’03, before we got a little bit better.
