UNC Gets Extension for Silent Sam Proposal

UNC will have beyond November 15 to submit a plan to the UNC System Board of Governors for the “disposition and preservation” of the Confederate monument on the campus known as Silent Sam. The initial deadline was set after protesters pulled the statue from its pedestal on August 20. Board of Governors chair Harry Smith said campus officials had asked for an extension.
