Pitcher Jason Knapp, the Philadelphia Phillies' second-round selection in the first-year player draft, agreed to a contract on Sunday. Knapp went 6-1 with a 1.37 ERA during his senior season. He struck out 79 and walked 16 in 51 innings. He also hit .456 and had seven home runs. Knapp opted to sign with the Phillies rather than playing college baseball at North Carolina. He had committed to the Tar Heels as a junior.
